Subject: Clarification about Stateview Hotel and Conference Center
Date: May 30, 2017

This memorandum is intended to provide clarification and additional information to the initial memo dated April 5, 2017, regarding the new Stateview Hotel and Conference Center.

This Marriott Autograph Collection hotel will provide faculty, staff, students, parents, fans and visitors with four-star accommodations on NC State’s Centennial Campus. As a destination hotel, it will also provide an excellent choice for anyone visiting Raleigh. The goal for the property has always been to provide hotel and conference guests an excellent NC State experience. The Stateview also helps complete Centennial’s “hospitality neighborhood” that includes the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, the Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center and the State Club.

Because the Stateview is a partner on our campus, the university is committed to its success. In this regard, we have agreed that for official university meetings, conferences and related events requiring booking blocks of rooms and meeting rooms, NC State will take a first look to reserve space at the Stateview and use our best efforts to host events at the property. The university is guaranteed first preference for blackout dates and preferential prices (best available rates) for rooms.

Conference commitments to the StateView will be transacted through University Purchasing. If a department or unit is planning a conference and would like to use a different facility, Purchasing will request a rationale for booking at another location. Exceptions could include but are not limited to the hotel’s inability to accommodate the number of rooms or meeting attendees; difficulty of transporting occupants from the hotel to other meeting or event locations; or caps on lodging expenditures from a granting agency.

For all other visitors and meetings that do not require booking blocks of rooms or meeting spaces, we believe the hotel will provide an excellent location, value and campus experience, and encourage that it be considered.

We are confident that the Stateview, expected to open in the fall, will add to the vitality of Centennial Campus and provide significant benefits to the Wolfpack community. To book rooms or conference space, contact Karris Deis, Director of Sales & Marketing at 919-888-0574 or karris.deis@interstatehotels.com. Please use code NQA for all NC State related bookings.
