| Date: | April 24, 2026 |
The following serves as an update to the Oct. 22, 2025, 3D memo titled New Policy: Digital Accessibility Requirements for all Content and Applications.
Many have heard that the U.S. Department of Justice extended the digital accessibility compliance deadline for public entities to meet the new Americans with Disabilities Act Title II guidelines to April 26, 2027.
The university may also be subject to a similar rule under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act enforced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. That rule has a compliance deadline of May 11, 2026, and this is the date by which the university is working toward compliance.
Thank you to the many people who have worked diligently for the past two years. At this time, the technical requirements remain the same and we ask you to continue on your roadmap working toward the May 11, 2026 deadline.
Digital accessibility isn’t only about compliance. It’s about improving usability and ensuring access for everyone; it’s the right thing to do. Please keep moving forward with your work. As you continue to implement your accessibility roadmap by assessing and updating your digital materials, please review the accessibility hub website for resources, including training and tools.
